DESCRIPTION

O-rings are the most common and cost-effective sealing elements available. They seal over a wide range of pressure, temperature and tolerance. They are an excellent option where space limitations are a concern. And with proper hardware design, o-rings can seal a wide range of pressures from low vacuum up to several thousand PSI. O-rings are available in a wide range of elastomers as well as PTFE.

Fluorocarbon (FKM): Fluorocarbon FKM has excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, ozygen, mineral oil, synthetic hydraulic fluids, fuels, aromatics and many organic solvents and chemicals. Gas permeability is very low. Low temperature resistance is normally not favorable and for stat applications is limited to approximately -15F although certain compounds are suitable down to -50F. Under dynamic conditions, the lowest service temperature is between 5F and 0F.

There are specialty FKM compounds that exhibit an improved resistance to acids and fuels. FKM o-rings are readily available in 75 and 90 durometer. Other durometers are available on request.

Low Temperature Range (F): BETWEEN -15F AND -50F (DEPENDING ON INDIVIDUAL COMPOUND)

High Temperature Range (F): UP TO 400F AND HIGHER TEMPERATURES WITH SHORTER LIFE EXPECTANCY.

MINERAL AND VEGETABLE OIL AND GREASE, ASTM OIL NO. 1, AND IRM 902 AND IRM 903 OILS.
NON-FLAMMABLE HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (HFD)
SILICONE OIL AND GREASE.
ALIPHATIC HYDROCARBONS (BUTANE, PROPANE, NATURAL GAS).
AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS (BENZENE, TOLUENE).
CHLORINATED HYDROCARBONS (TRICHLOROETHYLENE AND CARBON TETRACHLORIDE).
GASOLINE (INCLUDING HIGH ALCOHOL CONTENT).
HIGH VACUUM.
VERY GOOD OZONE, WEATHER AND AGING RESISTANCE.

Not compatible with:

GLYCOL BASED BRAKE FLUIDS.
AMMONIA GAS, AMINES, ALKALIS.
SUPERHEATED STEAM.
LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT ORGANIC ACIDS (FORMIC AND ACETIC ACIDS).
HYDROCARBON BASED FUELS.
