DESCRIPTION
O-rings are the most common and cost-effective sealing elements available. They seal over a wide range of pressure, temperature and tolerance. They are an excellent option where space limitations are a concern. And with proper hardware design, o-rings can seal a wide range of pressures from low vacuum up to several thousand PSI. O-rings are available in a wide range of elastomers as well as PTFE.
Acrylonitrile-Butadiene (NBR): Nitrile rubber (NBR) is the general term for acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer. Also known as Buna-n (BN). The acrylonitrile content of nitrile sealing compounds varies considerably (18% to 50%) and influences the physical properties of the finished material. The higher the acrylonitrile content, the better the resistance to oil and fuel. At the same time, elasticity and resistance to compression set is adversely affected. In view of these opposing realities, a compromise is often drawn, and a medium acrylonitrile content is selected.
NBR has good mechanical properties when compared with other elastomers and high wear resistance. NBR is not resistant to weathering and ozone.
NBR o-rings are readily available in 70 and 90 durometer. Other durometers are available on request.
