DESCRIPTION
Similar to Vee packing, WV packing is stacked in a pedestal fashion. Stacked rings do not require axial force to obtain proper lip interference. Also, stacked WV’s have the advantage of redundancy – if one ring fails, the next ring will back it up.
WV packing is available as a Center Ring, Style WC-F (Neo-Fab) and Style WC-H (Buna-N); Flat Back, Style FB-F (Neo-Fab) and style FB-H (Buna-N); and Deep Base, Style DFB-H (Buna-N) . Flat backs and center rings are typically used in sets, whereas deep base rings are used as single elements.
If your design is of medium to high pressure it is recommended that you utilize fabric reinforced (Neo-Fab) rings. A homogeneous ring may be also used for sealing at low pressure. Do not include the homogeneous ring in calculating pressure rating. Due to the different material, it is difficult to rate this type of ring. If you wish to use all homogeneous rings, tests should be conducted to verify design stability.
